Honorary Graduates
Brian May, Yusuf Islam, Jennifer Saunders and Adrian Edmondson were among 20 key figures who received Honorary Degrees at the University of Exeter last July. Honorary Graduates from the fields of arts, business, law and sport were joined by more than three thousand students in ceremonies from 10 to 16 July 2007.
With a musical career spanning four decades, Queen founding member Brian May is a world-renowned guitarist, songwriter, producer and performer.
One of the most influential women in British television comedy over the last 20 years, writer and actress Jennifer Saunders first found success as one half of the double act French and Saunders.
Formerly known as Cat Stevens, Yusuf Islam's pioneering work in education and tireless support for humanitarian causes has received international recognition, including being honoured with the ‘Man for Peace’ award in 2004 by a committee of Nobel peace laureates.
