Honorary Graduates
Rik Mayall, Sir David Attenborough and Jonathan Dimbleby were among the 14 public figures to be made Honorary Graduates of the University of Exeter this summer between 8 and 14 July. Honorary Graduands were been selected from the fields of literature, comedy, politics, media, business, engineering, higher education and healthcare, to acknowledge the major contributions they have made within their fields and to society as a whole.
David Attenborough is best known for his award winning programmes featuring birds, mammals, terrestrial invertebrates, plants, fossils and, most recently, amphibians and reptiles.
Rik Mayall, born in 1958, is an English comedian and actor. Perhaps best known for his enduring partnership with Adrian Edmondson, Rik was one of the pioneers of the alternative comedy scene that emerged in the early 80s.
Jonathan Dimbleby is a writer, broadcaster and film-maker. He has presented Any Questions? and Any Answers? for BBC Radio 4 since 1987.
