The deadline for submissions to the 3rd Biennial Arabic Language Teaching & Learning in the UK Higher Education Conference is 12:00 am (GMT) on Saturday 19th December 2020.

The Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies, University of Exeter invites proposals for the 3rd Biennial Arabic Language Teaching & Learning in the UK Higher Education Conference on the theme of Arabic in a Globalised World. We invite participants to reflect on the following sub-themes:

Pedagogical Approaches to TAFL:

  • Technology-Mediated Learning and Teaching
  • Remote Teaching and Blended Approaches
  • Arabic Diglossia and Language Variation
  • Feedback and Assessment

Diversity in the Classroom:

  • Teaching and Learning in Multicultural Settings
  • Heritage Language Instruction and Learning
  • Second Language Maintenance and Attrition
  • Incorporate Global Dimension within the Curriculum

Professional Development:

  • Designing Syllabus and Teaching Resources
  • Teacher Training Programme in a Globalized World

Literature, Translation and Trans-cultural Studies in TAFL:

  • Literature, Theatre and Films in the Classroom
  • Development of Translation and Transcultural Skills
  • Authentic and Abridged Texts
  • Transcultural Translation

Instructions for submitting abstracts:

- Abstracts and papers in Arabic and English are both accepted.
- The abstract should not exceed 300 words and should be scholarly, with a focused statement, clear goals and methodology.
- The abstract should be sent by email to arabic.iais@exeter.ac.uk as a Word document/ PDF along with the information form attached.
- You will be notified of paper acceptance by 29th January 2021.
