Dramatherapy: An Empowering and Healing Creative Therapy

Monday, 1 February 12.30 to 1.45 pm (GMT) via Zoom

We are excited to host three speakers from Intisar Foundation to share their experiences with using drama therapy as a novel and promising psychological intervention tool for treating trauma in female survivors of war and violence.

Her Royal Highness Sheikha Intisar AlSabah is the Founder and Chairwoman of the Intisar Foundation, a UKbased charity that works with women affected by war to alleviate their trauma through Drama Therapy. She’s the driving force behind several initiatives to promote positive thinking, wellbeing, and strong ethical values. She started an educational programme which establishes a positive learning environment in schools including four award-winning films using local Kuwaiti youth. Through the Intisar Foundation she uses the creative therapeutic approach of drama therapy and aims to heal 1 million Arab women affected by war in the next 20 years.

Dr Lina Haddad Kreidie is a visiting assistant professor and the academic director of the MEPI-TLS-gender program at the Lebanese American University (LAU). Kreidie is a political psychologist, and a research consultant on Women’s Empowerment at Intisar Foundation.

Mrs Farah Wardani is a theater actress (improvised and scripted), clown doctor, puppeteer, drama trainer and applied theater practitioner. Farah is the director of Laban (a Lebanese theater-based NGO). Since 2018 she has led drama therapy workshops with Intisar Foundation targeting Arab women victim of war since 2018.

This event will be facilitated by Dr Manal Sabbah and Dr Fran Martin, Honorary Research Fellows at the University of Exeter, both sharing a passion for decolonisation and social justice praxis.
