Event details
Conversations about Kurdistan and Palestineis a series of online workshops that aims to collectively think about past and present transformations of rurality, and rural spaces and lives in these regions. In the 20th and 21stcentury, Palestine and Kurdistan’s rural areas have gone through extremely violent transformations and dynamics of dispossession: the destruction of villages and agricultural lands and the transformation of life space and livelihood turned the inhabitants of rural areas into forced migrants, refugees, exiles, and urbanites, and the rural spaces and lives into a lost homeland and a by-gone golden age. Over the last year, the Covid-19 pandemic has deepened historic inequalities of class, gender, race in access to life-making resources and livelihoods and exposed the already precarious living conditions of rural communities in these regions to new sets of social, political and economic challenges.
