The Right to Repair: Future Proof Transdisciplinary Thinking in Environmental Law

The topic of the roundtable was on the right to repair since it has gradually become a significant term in terms of circular economy. The concept discussed in terms of national, regional, and international level. 

Prof. Caitlin De Silvey’s book – Visible Mending was distributed and some of the thoughts came to anchor the discussion. 

Prof. Stefano Pascucci and Prof. Tapas Malik presented short notes in which they discussed various aspects of right to repair. 

The nature of right to repair was questioned and it is suggested that right to repair be considered as a civil right and a significant part of the macro-economy. As for legal regulations concerning right to repair, a business-friendly perspective may not be enough to reach an ultimate solution, so a consumer-friendly perspective should also be taken into consideration. In terms of sustainable development, right to repair is not a choice anymore, but a must.
