Introducing our Global Authoritarianism Network and Book Launch

The Global Authoritarianism network is a new interdisciplinary network of researchers who study authoritarianism from a wide range of disciplinary, regional, and methodological standpoints. We are looking for more members: come along and find out more.

Event details

The Global Authoritarianism network is a new interdisciplinary network of researchers who study authoritarianism from a wide range of disciplinary, regional, and methodological standpoints. We are looking for more members from across all three faculties and campuses.

Come along to our introductory talk to find out more on Wednesday 25th January at 3pm (Bateman Lecture Theatre, Building One and online).

Refreshments will be served from 15:30, followed by the launch of Prof Marlies Glasius’ (University of Amsterdam) new book ‘Authoritarian Practices in a Global Age’ (16:00-17:30). The book challenges the assumption that authoritarianism is necessarily a phenomenon located at the level of the state, and that states as a whole are therefore either democratic or authoritarian.
