Event details
BERA Creativities in Education SIG event, Creative Pedagogies: Research and Practices in Conversation, run this year in collaboration with the International Society for the Study of Creativity and Innovation (https://issci.online/) and the Global Institute of Creative Teaching https://www.gioct.org
We invite teachers, practitioners and researchers interested and working in the field of creativities and education to join us for an international online ‘in conversation’ event.
A feast of creativities in education experts with academic and practice-based experience will share their insights into and experience of learning and teaching of and for creativity.
We will hear from Sarah Childs from Penryn College UK, from Professor Dan Harris, School of Education, RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia, and from a trio of US colleagues Dr Amanda Nicole Gulla, Professor of English Education at Lehman College, Olu Animashaun and Deidre Lynn Hollman, Columbia University. They will share their insights on creative pedagogies: how they are practiced and researched; why they matter now and what they believe should be driving our work in the field.
Our experts will speak from their personal experience which will include accounts of a diversity of creative collaborations spanning education and society, as teachers, artists and researchers.
The key topics will be shared publicly with event participants in advance in order to enable the most productive debates to occur in breakout room sessions after the conversations. These conversations will inform how those involved can take responses to these questions forward in blogs and sharings after the event.
The event will culminate in the annual Anna Craft Memorial Lecture, this year being delivered by Associate Professor Kerry Chappell, University of Exeter, entitled Creative Ruptions for Emergent Educational Futures.
