Event details

Alexandru Dragan is a filmmaker and graduate student pursuing a Master's degree in Media and Communication at the University of Exeter. They are pleased to extend an introduction to a noteworthy and impactful project that has been a focal point of their recent endeavours—a comprehensive video archive featuring interviews with refugees and asylum seekers. The fundamental objective of this initiative is to illuminate the diverse and often overlooked narratives of individuals who have sought refuge and asylum in various regions of Devon. Through a meticulously crafted series of compelling interviews, I endeavour to capture the intimate personal narratives, struggles, and triumphs of these resilient individuals. The overarching aim is to provide a unique and human perspective on the complex global refugee crisis.

Sarah Salehi Ghazal leads the development and implementation of academic programmes and graduate access initiatives at the Refugee-Led Research Hub (RLRH). She completed her master's in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action at Sciences Po Paris, where she specialised in African Studies and Project Management. Prior to joining the RLRH, Sarah was a research assistant at the International Migration Institute, where she researched the relationship between migration and social transformation processes. She has worked at the Humanitarian Affairs and Migration division of the Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations in Geneva, and has experience in coordinating humanitarian assistance projects for refugees and asylum seekers in Greece focusing on emergency assistance and education.
