Omissions, Misdirections, and Necessary Corrections: Wikipedia and the Palestine-Israel Question
Main topics:
Wikipedia is the undisputed leader in providing knowledge to the masses. Who's creating this knowledge? How do they do that? What are the biases present in the content? More specifically, how is the Palestinian narrative represented in Wikipedia? What can we do to to improve coverage of Palestine?
Speaker, Farah Mustaklem
Farah Mustaklem, a software engineer by profession, is a long time Wikipedian and a proponent of the dissemination of free knowledge.
Farah started editing Wikipedia in English and Arabic over eighteen years ago, and has since been involved in promoting volunteering in the free encyclopaedia. Farah has held several workshops aimed at expanding the user base of the collaborative project.
Additionally, Farah is involved in advocacy for digital rights and other human rights.
