Title: Making new medicines – The journey of a startup
Abstract:
The process of discovering and developing new drugs to treat diseases is notoriously challenging and fraught with risk. The reality is stark: the majority of potential medications do not succeed. This journey requires not only a broad array of skills and expertise but also a deep commitment to collaboration across several key areas—including scientific research, manufacturing, business operations, regulatory compliance, and clinical testing—supported by substantial financial resources.
In this talk, we will explore the journey of a particular startup, from its beginnings in the loft of a shophouse to its growth into a company of over 100 people, now treating patients in clinical trials. We will try to provide a realistic look at the complexities of bringing a new drug from concept to clinic, highlighting the collaborative effort required to navigate the intricate landscape of drug development. Join us for a candid exploration of one startup's journey through the challenging but rewarding process of drug discovery and development.
