Kate Raworth at the University of Exeter

Over the past seven years the concepts of 'Doughnut Economics' have gained traction around the world - not just as a theory, but as a set of tools for promoting regenerative and distributive futures in communities, municipalities, education, business and beyond. In this talk, Kate Raworth - author of the 2017 book Doughnut Economics, and co-founder of Doughnut Economics Action Lab - will give an overview of concepts underpinning this approach to new economic thinking, provide examples of how pioneers worldwide have been taking the concepts off the page and turning them into practice, and bring reflections - as shared by many leading practitioners - of what more it will take to bring about the transformations we seek at the speed and scale that these times demand.

The event will include a panel discussion on how Doughnut Economics can impact on the power dynamics between institutions (e.g. universities, councils) and communities, with opportunities to share thoughts and questions.

This event is free, open to all, and we are able to reimburse bus travel to the campus for those who would find that helpful.
