CYPW Network online lunchtime Seminar trilogy 3- Working with marginalised young people to co-develop violence prevention interventions in South Africa

The CYP Wellbeing @Exeter Research Network would like to invite you to the third of three lunchtime online seminars to hear from members of the network with expertise in research meaningfully involving children and young people.

Marginalised young people in South Africa experience multiple-overlapping health challenges and yet are often excluded from being involved in developing interventions addressing their needs. In this talk I will describe a theoretically informed practical approach to the co-development of a violence prevention intervention with young South African, practitioners and academics, and reflect on the successes and challenges of this work.  

This third talk will be delivered by Dr Andrew Gibbs, Senior Lecturer within the Psychology Department at the University of Exeter

Bio: Andy is a social psychologist specialising in global health challenges, applies behavioural and structural interventions to combat violence against women and girls, and HIV prevention/treatment. Holding key appointments at Exeter and esteemed affiliations with University College London and South African Medical Research Council, Andy earned his PhD in Psychology from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 2015
