CYPW Network online lunchtime Seminar trilogy 1- Giving Young People a voice in research

These online talks will comprise short presentations (c.15-20 mins) and the opportunity for Q&A.

The CYP Wellbeing @Exeter Research Network would like to invite you to the first of three lunchtime online seminars to hear from members of the network with expertise in research meaningfully involving children and young people.

The saying ‘Nothing About Us Without Us’ is central to giving young people a voice in research.  I will talk about how working with young people for the past four years in the local community has given them a voice in a number of different research projects and some of the practical and ethical issues to consider when working with young people. 

This first talk will be delivered by Camilla Forbes, Research Fellow for the NIHR South West Peninsula Applied Research Collaboration (PenARC)

Title: Giving Young People a voice in research

Bio: Camilla is a Research Fellow for the NIHR South-West Peninsula Applied Research Collaboration (PenARC). She specialises in Child and Maternity Health, aiming to implement evidence-based interventions across England through 3-4 implementation studies. Her work engages communities, children, young people, families, and women to address public health needs effectively in health and social care services. With a background in school-based initiatives for improving lifestyle choices, including the ASET Saxton Fellowship and contribution to the Healthy Lifestyles Programme, she brings experience in promoting health in deprived areas and involving families in research through her previous role as the Family Involvement Coordinator for PenCRU.
