We need your help to improve Wikipedia's climate change information!

Accurate climate change information empowers informed decisions at a time of great urgency. Wikipedia is an effective platform to make knowledge searchable and accessible, but it relies on volunteers to keep it up to date and combat misinformation. At this editathon you’ll learn how to edit Wikipedia’s climate change articles and make your first edits with a trainer on-hand to assist.

Accurate climate change information empowers informed decisions at a time of great urgency. Read 22 billion times a month, Wikipedia is an effective platform to make knowledge searchable and accessible, but it relies on volunteers to keep it up to date and combat misinformation.

 

At this editathon you’ll learn how to edit Wikipedia’s climate change articles and make your first edits with a trainer on-hand to assist. This workshop is a great opportunity to delve into a climate change topic, work on a literature review, practice writing for public audiences and network with others, all while making a positive impact on public climate change information.

 

No prior knowledge required. Repeat attendees welcome!

If you plan to join, please register and do the following before the event:

1.     Create a Wikipedia account and

2.     sign up to the Dashboard (passcode = tamknosp)

3.     If there’s a particular topic / page you are keen to work on, bring a reputable source (e.g.: journal paper, policy brief or research report) containing the info you’d like to add to Wikipedia to the session.
