Workshop: Interdisciplinary Innovation in Metabolism Research
A half-day workshop exploring new frontiers in metabolism research through an interdisciplinary lens.
This innovative session brings together researchers from STEM and HASS disciplines to reimagine how we study and understand metabolism. Moving beyond traditional input-output models, we will explore how social conditions, nutrition behaviors, and health inequalities intersect with metabolic processes. The workshop offers a unique opportunity to combine cutting-edge data science methods, health sciences and social scientific perspectives to develop new research frameworks.

The Exeter Health Analytics network invites you to join us for an exciting half-day workshop exploring new frontiers in metabolism research through an interdisciplinary lens. The workshop will take place on Wednesday, January 8th from 9:20 AM to 1:55 PM in the XFi Building, Streatham Campus.
Distinguished speakers from across disciplines will share insights on metabolic science and methodological innovations. Confirmed presenters include Luciana Torquati, Francis Stephens, Jess Tyrrell, Becky Lynch, and Nick Smirnoff. Following the presentations, interactive roundtable sessions will facilitate collaborative exploration of research questions and potential funding opportunities.
The workshop aims to catalyze new research collaborations and generate innovative project ideas that bridge disciplinary boundaries. Research Services will provide guidance on funding pathways and grant opportunities. All ideas generated will be captured in a shared research question bank for future development.
We welcome participants from all relevant disciplines, including mathematics, physics, biosciences, engineering, computer science, health data science, statistics, genomics, neuroendocrinology, history of medicine, political science, and sociology.
