Abstract
This research investigates the role of culture in the British Industrial Revolution by analyzing local proverb use, constructed from historical collections of 25,000 proverbs which are thematically interpreted using AI. Looking at usage in books and local newspapers, we analyze changes in attitudes towards work, time, and social norms during this period due to industrialization.
