Four free sessions giving you the skills to travel with confidence

To empower those with disabilities to confidently use public transport


Event details

Free Travelling with Confidence training with Living Options Devon and the Sustainability Team, supported by Devon County Council, to empower those with disabilities to confidently use public transport, working alongside local transport providers to reduce barriers.

Programme

Four sessions all between 10am - 1pm

  • Session 1
    Thursday 15 May -  classroom based
    Syndicate Room B, Building One

    An introductory session to: explore participants’ travel goals, build journey planning skills, identify potential problems, learn to communicate with confidence and practice techniques to overcome anxiety.
  • Sessions  2 and 3
    Thursday 29 May and Thursday 5 June
    On buses/trains
     
    Two guided social trips, (café or visitor attraction) by bus and train, building confidence, becoming familiar with ticketing, train, bus and station access.
  • Session 4
    Thursday 12 June
    Classroom based - Syndicate Room C, Building One

    Reflection and evaluation, identifying further training needs etc.
