Exeter MPA External Speaker Series: Transparent and Open Government

Open government is a concept widely seen as a key hallmark of democratic practice in many parts of the world. Using evidence from several countries including the United States the talk will assess the current state of practice and future prospects. The talk will consider the implications of trends for democratic-constitutional values and their role in public governance structures.
Dr. Suzanne J. Piotrowski is Deputy Dean and Associate Professor of Public Affairs and Administration at Rutgers University. She has conducted extensive research on nonmission-based values in public administration, including administrative transparency and ethics and is the author of Governmental Transparency in the Path of Administrative Reform (2008) Albany: State University of New York Press.
