WCCEH Digital Storytelling Workshop

Event details

Abstract

Digital storytelling is the practice of using digital tools to share personal life stories and creative imaginings with others. These stories can be told through sound, text, still and moving images and interactive elements. This three-hour workshop will introduce you to the basics of digital storytelling and give you the opportunity to play with some of the resources freely available online so that you will be able to go away and create your own simple digital narrative.

The workshop will cover

  • An introduction to digital storytelling
  • A chance to try out some of the techniques for yourself
  • An overview of the Wellcome Centre's ambient literature project and how you might want to get involved

The workshop is free but we ask that you use it to help you create a piece on the theme of health or well-being that we can then map to our ambient literature project. This project will virtually 'map' stories about health and well-being to specific locations across the University of Exeter campuses, and between them, which people will be able to access via their smartphones when they are physically in these locations. We want to encourage people to explore the campus and find these stories.

Who should attend

Anyone interested in finding out about digital storytelling; you do not have to be attached to the university. All are welcome.
