Music at Exeter

Student music

ExTunes is the umbrella organisation for Music at Exeter and promotes music as a social and recreational activity amongst all students with the support of the Students' Guild. The musical life of Exeter is dynamic and varied, including everything from Open Mic nights in the bar to a full-size classical Symphony Orchestra. If you sing or play an instrument, there are plenty of performance opportunities through the student music societies, ranging from Jazz, Folk and Concert Band, through Change Ringing and World Music, to large ensembles such as the University Orchestra, Choral Society and Musicals.

Music events on campus

The University provides the venue for dozens of gigs organised by the Students’ Guild and Event Exeter as well as hosting classical concerts by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra who perform throughout the year. Distinguished chamber groups and soloists also visit regularly. Find out about Music events on campus.

The Guild also supports campus bands and offers opportunities for gigs in the Lemon Grove (known as the ‘Lemmy’), the Student Guild’s concert venue based in Cornwall House on the Streatham Campus.

The Exeter University Symphony Orchestra is open to all members of the University and performs three concerts a year, occurring towards the end of each term.

There are regular arts and culture events including music, theatre and viusal arts throughout the year held on campus. Please visit the Arts and Culture website for more information.
