Kate Lampard CBE (LLD)

Kate was in practice at the chancery bar for 13 years. She specialised in trusts, company and insolvency law. She then moved into the public sector where she has held a number of appointments and has undertaken consultancy work principally investigating service and management system failures. She was appointed by the Secretary of State for Health to lead the independent investigations into Jimmy Savile's activities in the NHS. She has undertaken investigations into concerns about Yarl's Wood and Brook House immigration removal centres.
Kate is currently the chair of GambleAware, the charity that commissions research, education and treatment in relation to gambling related harm, and the lead non-executive director in the Department of Health and Social Care. She is a trustee of the Royal Horticultural Society and the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
Kate was previously the chair of South East Coast Strategic Health Authority, deputy chair of the South of England Strategic Health Authority and deputy chair of the Financial Ombudsman Service Limited. She was interim chair of the Committee on Deaths in Custody.
