FUTURES2023 is a festival of discovery that celebrates the research and innovation across the South West with an exciting programme of events and activities.
The event is a collaboration between Bath Spa University, University of Bath, University of Bristol, University of Exeter and University of Plymouth.
Happening in Cornwall this year, there will be a Pop-Up shop, lunchtime talks and guided walks, with researchers from the University of Exeter bringing their research to life in an exciting array of locations.

This is a celebration of fascinating discovery and intriguing culture right in the centre of Falmouth. We’ll be bringing to life the brilliant work that happens at the University of Exeter with music, demonstrations, talks, workshops, and even robots!
It will be a chance for curious minds to meet scientists, historians, doctors, mathematicians, and more. There will also be musicians and artists working with researchers to bring their work to life for all ages and backgrounds.

This engaging format is the ultimate ‘show and tell’, powerfully bringing research to life, demonstrating findings, and taking the public right into the inspiring places where vital work happens.

There will be an exciting talks programme for those of you ‘popping in’. From young researchers to discipline experts, these 15 minute talks will range from orchestras of the future, to an audience with the other monarch, Artificial Intelligence and lunchtime poetry. Our researchers will be sparking everyone’s curiosity and engage you in current and relevant discussions!

Are you passionate about nature? Do you love learning in interactive and creative ways? Look no further as we have two workshops that will not only immerse you in the arts and crafts but will also engage you in recent conservation work.
Together with Prof. Corinna Wagner, you will make cyanotype and then use your work to stretch your imagination to write narratives in prose and poetry in Cyanotype and Prose.
