Campus works

As with all University estate projects, mitigation measures are put in place to minimise dust and noise from construction sites where possible. We work with contractors that are part of the Considerate Constructors scheme, to ensure they have high standards in managing risks, protecting the environment and positive relationships with the local community. The projects are registered (or will be registered) with the Considerate Constructors scheme and monitored in accordance with the scheme's code of considerate practice.

We will work closely with key stakeholders and contractors to ensure that where possible disruption is kept to a minimum and we communicate regularly to keep you informed about upcoming works on our campuses.

Details of campus disruptions are communicated internally with you via the following channels.

  • Construction updates issued via email to key stakeholders.
  • Weekly Bulletin to colleagues, which is published every Monday.
  • Student Newsletter, which is published every Monday during term time.
  • Specific department newsletters, where appropriate.
  • All staff talks or department briefings.
  • VC and Registrar talks, where appropriate.
  • University social media channels will post key milestones for projects.
  • Emails to student in residence on campus via Room Service, where appropriate.
  • Project webpages, these are updated regularly and will give 2/3 week lookaheads of works happening on a project.

We also work closely with key departments and services to discuss any additional communications activity needed for key stakeholders.
