New Fireflies for Exeter Sailing

The Sailing Club is one of the largest and most successful university sailing clubs in the country. This year thanks to donations to a crowdfunding project they were able to secure the last of the funds required to replace a much needed new flight of 6 boats. Their older boats were rapidly deteriorating through years of competitive racing and needed constant repair. Using Exeter’s crowdfunding platform helped them to raise the remainder of the money needed. Read more here

This year thanks to donations to a crowdfunding project the Sailing Club were able to secure the last of the funds required to replace a much needed new flight of 6 boats. Their older boats were rapidly deteriorating through years of competitive racing and needed constant repair. They had already secured a majority of the funds and were looking for a way to raise the rest. By using Exeter’s crowdfunding platform, with support from the Alumni and Supporters team they successfully raised the remainder of the money needed to buy the boats.

The Sailing Club is one of the largest and most successful university sailing clubs in the country and these new boats will enable them to carry on conforming to racing standard and offer boats to both social sailors and team racers. This project brought together a large group of people from all corners of the club to encourage young sailors into the sport. The donations will enable their teams to continue their success in competitions across the country and to bring on novices to flourish into active sailors.
