Alumni volunteers give 75,000 hours
Thank you to each and every one of our wonderful alumni volunteers who have generously given time and skills to support us since the start of our ‘Making the Exceptional Happen’ Campaign.
The Campaign, Exeter’s most ambitious to-date, originally aimed to reach 60,000 volunteering hours by 2020, however the commitment and generosity of the alumni community meant that was reached nearly two years early in February 2018. A new stretch target of 90,000 hours was set following the milestone achievement.
Thanks to your generosity, the University has benefited from an incredible 75,000 alumni volunteering hours over the last seven and half years, an outstanding 125% of our original Campaign target.
75,000 hours equates to a graduate volunteering for Exeter every hour or every day since the Campaign began. It means tens of thousands of students have benefitted from careers talks, more than 2,000 have received mentoring partnerships lasting between 6 and 12 months, and another 1,500+ student careers questions have been answered by email. It also includes 2,500 working days of strategic advice given to University staff.
Emma McFadyen, Head of Alumni Relations and Volunteering at the University of Exeter said: “Gifts come in many shapes and sizes but they all make a tremendous difference to our work. Our alumni volunteers provide invaluable support to our students, helping them to achieve their career goals and supporting their personal development. We are incredibly grateful to each and every person who has given their time.”
