Information for students who started the Exeter Award in My Career Zone
We have transferred across progress information for all students who had registered for the Exeter Award in My Career Zone so you should be at the same point as you were.
In Handshake we are using the Career Journey function in the Career Centre to run the Exeter Award. We’re also adding labels to your Handshake profile to help identify key stages of progress.
The Exeter Award takes place over two Career Journeys:
- Exeter Award Development Stage - this is activity up to the mock application form.
- Exeter Award Mock Assessment Stage - this starts with the mock application form.
There are 3 labels that can be added to your profile:
- exeter award-registered – indicates you have registered and can access the Development Stage Journey
- exeter award-development stage completed – this indicates this Journey has completed and you can access the Mock Assessment Stage Journey
- exeter award-completed – indicates you have completed the Exeter Award.

You should have an exeter award-registered label and be able to access the Exeter Award Development Stage journey.
- Open the Exeter Award Development Stage Journey
- Click on the Start Journey button at the top of screen.
- Refresh the browser screen and this should update the progress.
- You can complete the goals in any order in the Development Stage journey.
- Once you have completed the Journey you will be able to progress to the Exeter Award Mock Assessment Stage journey.
You can get information about how to complete the Award on the Exeter Award Information Page which has a link to the Journeys page.
You should have a label to exeter award-development stage completed and will be able to access the Mock Assessment stage.
- Open the Exeter Award Mock Assessment Stage Journey
- Click on the Start Journey button at the top of screen.
- Refresh the browser screen and this should update the progress.
- If you have already completed the mock job application then click Mark as complete the Guide to writing your mock application form.
- Work through the goals in the journey in the order on screen.

If you completed the Exeter Award in My Career Zone you will have a label exeter award-completed and no action is required in the Exeter Award Journeys. You won’t have access to the Exeter Award Journeys mentioned as the structure has changed.
