Cover under the University’s motor insurance applies to vehicles that are in the custody or control of the University where the driver is adequately licensed and is authorised to drive by the Faculty or Service that is responsible for the vehicle. Faculties and Services are advised to ensure that there are systems in place to check that all drivers are adequately licensed.
To obtain cover please use the add/remove a vehicle from the University insurance form below.
Vehicles that are hired for occasional use are not covered by this policy. The insurance offered by the hire company should be taken out instead.
Members of staff or students driving their own vehicles whilst on the business of the University are not covered by the motor policy. In this scenario it is the responsibility of the driver to ensure that they comply with the Staff Use of Vehicles Whilst on University Business Policy which includes checking their own motor insurance cover allows business use of their vehicle. Failure to ensure business insurance is in place could render the driver uninsured.
