Role
Jim is a Senior Research Commercialisation Manager in the Enterprise and Innovation Programmes Team within Exeter Innovation.
He supports academics at the University of Exeter with the commercialisation of intellectual property (such as patents, copyright and know-how) through licensing and the formation of spin-out companies. Tori mainly works on commercialisation of healthcare, life sciences, and medical device innovations, and acts as the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences' aligned contact for all commercialisation queries. Jim is based at the Penryn Campus, supporting Cornwall-based commercialisation activity.
Profile
Jim studied geography and biology at the University of Bristol, graduating in 2003. After a short spell working as a social science researcher at the NHS, he has spent the last 10 years setting up and running a number of small enterprises in Cornwall. His sector experience includes tourism, hospitality, retail, ecommerce and product design. He has a particular interest in sustainable and ethical business practice.
Jim joined the University of Exeter in February 2016.
