About me:

Sam is the project manager for the of the UKRI/Research England £5 million 'Developing Business-Aware Academics' project, working in collaboration with the Chartered Association of Business Schools and a range of other universities to offer knowledge, skills and networking opportunities to doctoral and early career researchers to engage effectively with industry.

 

With a background in policy and expertise in inequalities across the student lifecycle Sam joins the project from the University’s Access, Participation and Outreach team where she led on strategic approaches to ensure equitable and inclusive experiences for our students, and enabling a whole-institution approach to Access and Participation through the Success for All strategy. She co-wrote the university’s Access and Participation Plan and led our approach to evidence and data analysis to support this work.

 

Prior to this Sam worked at the OfS and HEFCE for a decade where she had roles in regional funding (South West), teaching funding policy and most notably in Widening Participation policy where she led a number of national programmes including programmes for collaborative outreach (now Uniconnect). She undertook a secondment to the Vice-Chancellor’s office at UWE Bristol in 2011 to support the construction of the University Strategy and has been a school governor and member of a number of HE groups.
