Key features to your application

These key features will go a long way to making sure your application for Translational Funding will be successful:

  • The Project builds on the existing research findings of the principal applicant, although it may also draw on the research of others too, for example colleagues or PhD students. It is essential that this research has already been undertaken.
  • The project involves working with a fully committed non-academic partner organisation – this should include a commitment from the partner(s) for either match or in-kind funding, with a higher level expected for the higher levels of funding.
  • The PI and Co-I have planned effective knowledge exchange activities which maximise the level of engagement with the partner organisation. These must be outlined in detail in the application.
  • You have clear, realistic and measurable KPIs that you are working to. Ensure the activities, outputs and outcomes are clearly listed in your application.
  • Ensure your costs are reasonable and clearly justified. Ensure you are familiar with the University of Exeter Expenses policy and check limits for travel and subsistence costs. Use the T1 costing tool to cost your project.
  • Have a clear vision of the type of positive non-academic impact that will emerge as a result of your project. If there isn’t clear potential for excellent social or economic impact in your application you won’t be successful, no matter how fabulous your research is.
