The Collective for Racial Justice
What is the Collective for Racial Justice?
The Collective for Racial Justice is a network dedicated to advancing race equity and supporting racially minoritised staff and students at the University of Exeter. Originally established in 2019 as the BME Staff, Staff, Student and Allies network, we officially relaunched in the 2024-25 academic year under a new name that better reflects our purpose and values.
This rebrand reflects our renewed focus and commitment to centring race equity in everything we do. It’s more than just a name change – it’s a statement of intent. We’re refocusing our efforts to ensure that race equity remains at the heart of the university’s conversation, policies, and actions.
At its core, our network is about building a sense of belonging, meaningful connection and community for racialised minoritised staff and students.
We aim to create a space to celebrate, connect, and showcase achievements, while also working collectively toward meaningful change through our engagement with university governance structures to advocate for equity and inclusion.
