Respect Festival on Campus

Exeter Respect Festival is the city’s dedicated celebration of diversity. In 2018, the University of Exeter and Students' Guild partnered with Exeter Respect to bring the first Exeter Respect on Campus where students and staff have come together using the creative and performing arts to engage the wider community in challenging racism and all forms of prejudice.

The Respect ethos is a simple one: racism and prejudices often spring from fear, fear is bred from ignorance, so let’s overcome ignorance by getting to know one another better. In this partnership we have adopted this ethos and the Commission for Racial Equality slogan: All Different, All Equal

Through the Respect on Campus Festival, we seek to engage students and staff in responding to issues of racism, discrimination and this year’s theme, Climate Injustice. We have an incredible line-up of speakers, acts and performances from students and members of the university community for the day. We are proud to be part of the legacy of Exeter Respect which has grown from a small event in 1997 into the thriving weekend festival of celebration and cultural arts that we know today - with more than 20,000 attending the event every year. We are looking forward to showcasing the many voices that shape our vibrant community at the next festival in 2021.
