Academic skills lectures & workshops
Our Academic Skills Advisers can work with you to deliver bespoke lectures and workshops on a wide range of study-related areas, including:
- Academic writing
- Critical analysis
- Reading and notemaking strategies
- Revision and exam strategies
- Presentation skills
To ensure that students get the most from sessions, our Academic Skills Advisers will work with you to develop content and materials relevant to your discipline. They can also co-deliver the sessions with you to provide an integrated learning experience within your module or programme.
To enable this process to work most effectively for you and your students, we ask you to get in touch with us early to discuss how we can work with you, ideally a term before you need us. However, we do understand that this may not be possible and will do our best to accommodate your request wherever possible.

Testimonials
I am very grateful to you and your colleagues for providing the academic skills sessions for our Year 1 Medicine students. I think the workshop sessions are particularly useful to the students, as you have worked closely with myself and others in the Medical School to tailor them to our students’ circumstances. These workshops feel like an integrated part of the Special Study Unit 1 (SSU1) formative process, one which the students certainly appreciate. It is very useful for them to see real examples of student work and for you to discuss with them the strengths and areas that could be improved within those pieces of work. I am very grateful for the time and effort you invest in producing such bespoke sessions in collaboration with academic departments.
