Handshake
What is Handshake?
Handshake is an early careers network and careers management platform which allows our students and graduates to discover employers and opportunities, submit applications, and attend career fairs and other events.
Handshake makes it easier for our sudents and graduates to find the jobs they are looking for and makes it easier for employers to recruit our students and graduates.
All Student Employability and Academic Success (SEAS) staff should have a 'Career Services' Handshake account. If you are a new member of staff and need an account, please ask your line manager to complete the Handshake new staff form. This account will allow you (via your staff credentials) to login to the admin part of the system and to add and edit content. You can also create a student view associated with that account in order to best help our students with their enquiries.
Once your account has been set up, to access Handshake log in using the 'Current Students and SSO' option using your University of Exeter staff single sign-on details.
To switch between your 'Careers Services Account' and 'Students Account' click on your name (top right) and then 'Switch Users'.
We allow staff who are working with students to access Handshake in order to help them assist students, e.g. view events and jobs they might recommend to students. If you are a member of staff who wants access to a 'student view' in order to help students then you can create an account as follows.
Please note: content on the system, such as events, are for students and graduates only.
- Visit https://exeter.joinhandshake.co.uk/
- Click on Sign up here (accounts are only pre-created for students, so you will get a message saying 'there is no account on file' don't worry that's normal!)
- Enter your staff @exeter.ac.uk email so we can verify you are a member of staff
- Follow through the screens
- Where it asks for your date of birth/previous educational establishment -enter the word 'Staff'
If you are a member of staff who is a graduate and wants access for your own needs as a graduate, please visit the Careers Support for Graduates page for information about accessing your account.
