Humanities in the Workplace module

Our second year 'Humanities in the Workplace' module is designed to deepen your understanding of how the skills and knowledge acquired as part of a Humanities degree are applicable to the workplace.  As part of the module you will secure and complete a short placement of 40 or 80 hours (depending on the module variant), allowing you to gain real work experience and insights in a broad range of sectors.

During the summer term in year 1, students attend a comprehensive course of timetabled employability workshops over 2-3 days covering key topics such as CVs, applications, sourcing placements, interviews and more. Students are responsible for sourcing and securing their placement and are supported in their work placement search by our Employability and Placements Adviser.

Your work placement on this module will allow you to develop your CV, demonstrate your skills to future employers through previous experience and give you extra confidence as you explore career options. A placement is a learning experience, giving you a valuable first-hand insight into a particular job, company and sector that will leave you feeling more informed about your next steps.

The Humanities in the Workplace module helped to connect my course with the professional job market and future career opportunities... my work placements have greatly boosted my CV and enhanced my prospects
