China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU)
China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU) is one of the country’s most prestigious institutions of higher learning in the fields of diplomacy, foreign languages and public administration. The University of Exeter and CFAU enjoy a close partnership, establishing a Memorandum of Understanding in 2023 which supports a range of new initiatives to engage staff and students.
In 2024, Exeter and CFAU also entered into a Progression Agreement across three pathways, facilitating entry onto any postgraduate taught programme in the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS).
One such pathway is the 1+1+1 route, whereby students enrolled on a three-year Masters programme at CFAU are invited to join and complete a one-year Exeter Masters programme in Year 2 of their three-year CFAU course. Students then return to CFAU in Year 3 of that programme, with the Exeter MA qualifying them as completing all Year 2 requirements. Students then receive each of an Exeter and CFAU Masters degree.
Another such pathway is the 1+1 route, whereby students enrolled on a two-year Masters programme at CFAU are invited to join and complete a one-year Exeter Masters programme in Year 2 of their two-year course. Students then return to CFAU and will obtain each of an Exeter and CFAU Masters degree.
We also offer an undergraduate to postgraduate Progression pathway, for CFAU students to progress to Exeter to join any HASS Masters programme as a standalone degree.
All CFAU students who meet our standard Academic and English Language Entry Requirements from China will receive an offer to study at Exeter. Please visit our China country page for further information.
We are also delighted to offer CFAU students progressing to study at Exeter a dedicated scholarship award. Please note that CFAU students are only eligible to hold one scholarship from Exeter at a time, and if they successfully apply for more than one scholarship, the one with the largest value will be applied. See our funding and scholarship database for further information.
