The University of Exeter and Fudan University enjoy a close partnership across a range of initiatives in the humanities, arts and social sciences.

Fudan, one of the top five universities in China and ranked in the world’s top 50 (QS 2024) are founding partners in the Exeter-Fudan Global Thought Network, an interdisciplinary network which facilitates cross-cultural exchange and collaboration between our respective humanities and social sciences leading academics and early career researchers. Learn more about the Network here.

Double Masters Programme

In 2024, Exeter and Fudan also entered into a Double Masters (1+1) Masters programme, building a one-year Exeter Masters pathway into the two-year Fudan Master of Translation and Interpretation (MTI) degree programme.

Students of the Fudan MTI programme undertake their first year of study on the MTI programme at home, before transferring to Exeter to undertake one of several Master’s programmes taught in our Department of Languages, Cultures and Visual Studies and our Department of English and Creative Writing, including:

Students are then eligible to graduate with each of a Fudan and Exeter Masters degree. Fudan students undertaking this Double Masters programme will receive a dedicated scholarship supporting study at the University of Exeter and dedicated support.
