Our mission
At the University of Exeter we understand just how important it is to train the next generation of clinical researchers. We have a strong track record of excellent support and success for those who train with us. Whilst in the past we focused on clinical academic training for doctors, we have increasingly broadened our scope to support and strengthen training across the breadth of health professions. We are extremely proud of how our trainees tackle the diversity of health and wellbeing problems of our current and future population.
Professor Richard Holland
We consider that there are great benefits to undergoing clinical academic training, such as the chance to lead excellent science which makes a real difference to patients and populations. The insights you bring from your own practice are also invaluable in shaping research which addresses the key challenges in patient care, whether in hospital, general practice, community settings or more broadly in public health.
Exeter’s Clinical Academic Training Team exists to help aspiring and existing clinical academics from all backgrounds to make the most of the opportunities on offer and advance their careers. Furthermore, we provide signposting, information and advice on clinical academic training pathways, host events and seminars, and offer a range of networking, mentorship and training opportunities. Please explore these pages to find out more.
If you choose to train with us, we very much look forward to welcoming you to Exeter sometime in the future. Exeter and our partner sites across Devon and Cornwall provide a fantastic resource for academic clinical trainees to develop and enhance your research skills mentored by academic experts in your field, in the beautiful setting of the South West.
