Funding Schemes
The QUEX Institute provides diverse funding opportunities to foster collaboration between the University of Exeter and the University of Queensland.
These include support for joint workshops, high-impact research and education projects, and professional services fellowships. Each initiative aims to strengthen interdisciplinary partnerships, drive strategic priorities, and deliver meaningful, lasting impact aligned with the Institute’s key themes.
The QUEX Accelerator Grant supports ambitious, collaborative projects between the University of Exeter and the University of Queensland that are poised to deliver high-impact outcomes.
Designed to build on established partnerships, these grants - offering up to £30,000 / A$57,000 per project - aim to catalyse initiatives with strong potential to secure major external funding, generate significant research or teaching outputs, and influence national or international policy.
When to apply: This grant usually opens for applications in September each year.
The QUEX Workshop Grant supports collaborative workshops and symposia between the University of Exeter and the University of Queensland.
Grants of up to £3,500 / A$6,500 are available to initiate or develop joint projects - particularly those that may lead to Accelerator or Strategic Grant applications or future external funding.

This fellowship programme offers professional development opportunities for staff at the University of Queensland and the University of Exeter, fostering the exchange of best practice and enhancing systems and services that support QUEX partnership projects, and/or the wider strategy of each institution.
Each year, both institutions identify areas of strategic importance, and staff working in these priority areas are invited to apply.
When to apply: This grant usually opens for applications in March each year.
