Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR)
The HEAR (Higher Education Achievement Report) is an enhanced electronic transcript which provides information on academic achievements, prizes and awards as well as selected extra curricular achievements such as elected positions on societies. HEARs may be used by employers or educational institutions to verify the results and achievements of applicants.
HEARs are issued to undergraduate and postgraduate taught students at Exeter after a degree has been conferred following the completion of a programme of study.
In addition to your degree classification and module results, the HEAR will contain activities that have been approved for inclusion by the University and the achievement is verified by the University. You can see what has been approved on this page, which also has a summary of the structure of the HEAR.
All students who are eligible to receive a HEAR are invited, by email, to check the additional achievements and activities section of HEAR prior to graduation. Any omissions, corrections or exclusions can be reported at this time. There is information for students about reviewing your HEAR.
HEARs are issued after a degree is awarded.
If you are an undergraduate student and awarded a degree in June, your HEAR should be issued during the week before Summer graduation.
If you are a postgraduate taught student and are awarded your degree during the Autumn term, your HEAR should be issued during the week before Winter graduation.
If you are awarded your degree at a different time to the above, your HEAR will usually be issued around two or three weeks after your degree has been awarded.
HEARs are not available instantly once an Award is made, they are issued in batches and when your HEAR is issued you'll get an email from GradIntelligence with details of how to access it.
HEARs are stored on the GradIntelligence platform and graduates can issue tokens to allow others such as employers to view their HEAR. We set up GradIntelligence accounts for all who will be receiving a HEAR.
HEARs are only valid when accessed using a token on the GradIntelligence platform.
Providing the HEAR is not a statutory requirement, but it is a nationally recognised document and many higher education institutions issue HEARs.
