Connecting to wifi on campus

*These instructions only cover internet connection while on campus and not in student accommodation. If you are in halls of residence, please go to "Connecting to the internet in halls of residence"

Streatham and St Luke's Campuses

Get Online:

Streatham and St Luke's campus have two different WiFi networks that serve different purposes:

The university provides University_WiFi to facilitate easy access to an internet connection. This should be considered similar to a public wireless network in cafés and coffee shops.

Please note: This network does not encrypt wireless traffic, and you should take the usual precautions when using any open network connection.

For anyone requiring a secure, encrypted, wireless network connection, we recommend setting up eduroam

1. You MUST set up your IT account before you use this portal to log in and register your device.

2. On your device, open your Wi-Fi settings search for University_WiFi and select it.

3. You will be taken to an option page. (as displayed below)

4. Select the option "Connect using your university account".

5. A login window will display on the screen. (as displayed below)

6. Enter your university-provided email address including @exeter.ac.uk, and password

7. Select Log in and you will be connected to the WiFi

This is recommended as the default for staff and students and allows visiting academics and students access to the Internet using their university usernames.

How to connect

For University of Exeter users, the best way to set up your device to connect to eduroam is by using the eduroam Configuration Assistance Tool.

You will need to log in using your university e-mail address. For example, if your e-mail address is a.user@exeter.ac.uk, use this as your username.

More details on how to connect can be found here.
