Prof. Lindsay Hetherington is Deputy Head of the School of Education and Associate Professor of Science Education. She is an expert in science education and teacher education, using sociomaterial and dialogic theories to understand teaching and learning in the context of STEM/STEAM education, climate change and sustainabilty education, and transdisciplinary education. Her work uses broad educational research methods, including mixed methods, qualitative and post-qualitative analysis. Prof. Hetherington co-leads the Centre for Transdisciplinary Educational Futures, within which she leads the Education for Environmental Justice research group. 

 

As Deputy Head of the School of Education, Prof. Hetherington works closely with the Head of School to provide clear and effective leadership of the department across all areas of activity. Prof. Hetherington's responsibilities include academic leadership and mentoring of early career researchers and supporting the academic career development of the ~70 members of staff in the department.
