Georgios Alexandros (Alex) Chatzistefanou is a PhD student in the Centre for Water Systems at the University of Exeter, funded by KWR Water Research Institute, where he is based. His research focuses on understanding the behavior of complex interdependent infrastructure systems subject to natural hazards, with the aim of improving their resilience under flood events.
His background is in Civil Engineering, in which he obtained a diploma from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki first class. Prior to his current role, he was involved in the design of large-scale water infrastructure projects as a member of a consulting engineering firm. His past experience also includes research in the field of earthquake engineering and resilience of engineered systems, a field in which he has co-authored scientific publications.
