I chose the full-time distance MA in Anthrozoology at Exeter because of its quality distinction award and the possibility to study at home. This programme suited my interest in human–animal relations at zoos because it covered a wide range of topics from Wildlife Conservation to Health and Healing or Primatology. Different module assignments helped me gain expertise on tasks I will encounter as an Anthrozoologist, like poster presentations at conferences or article writing for scientific journals. Some suggested readings and documentaries we commented in group tutorials made me question my ideas about the human–animal bond. The tutors and teachers were very inspiring and I greatly appreciate their support and guidance throughout my studies. The work culminated with my MA final dissertation on zoo animals’ instrumentalisation and my forthcoming PhD research to improve zoo animal wellbeing through exhibit design.
