Placeify - creating digital tours

In 2013, CICT's Gabriella Giannachi worked with digital specialist 1010 Media to create a web app that enables users to explore the Royal Albert Memorial Museum’s (RAMM) collections outside the confines of the building. Called ‘Time Trails’, the project facilitates the exploration of 250,000 years of history through objects in the collection and oral histories from partner institutions, such as Exeter City FC Supporters Trust. There’s a trail that guides you around Devon to see examples of historic plasterwork, a tour that takes in Exeter’s many public sculptures and artworks, and a trail that leads you around the city’s gothic revival buildings in search of the locations for many of the RAMM’s exhibits…

Since then, the project has evolved to become Placeify – a free platform that users can harness to create mobile digital tours based on interactive map locations. Using images, text and audio, Placeify can be a learning tool, a means to engage with a specific audience, or just for fun.
