Teaching

Students form an important dimension of the Centre for Kurdish Studies activities and participate in the activities of the Centre. Therefore we are committed to provide the best education experience as possible through a strong curriculum and extra-curricular activities including seminars, workshops, master classes and conferences. Thanks to our generous donors, the Centre has been able to grant scholarships to MA and PhD students.

PhD programme

The Centre for Kurdish Studies has a PhD Programme in Kurdish Studies. Staff members can offer supervision in their area of expertise. A total of 11 PhD studentships were funded in 2010/11, 2011/12 and 2012/13. The awards were made available through a grant awarded to the Centre for Kurdish Studies  by the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq.

Kurdish language

The Centre for Kurdish studies is one of the few teaching institutions teaching Kurmanji. Language training is provided for undergraduate students of Middle Eastern Studies and Graduate students of Kurdish studies.

Enhancing Graduate Training: master classes, seminars, workshops

The Centre has a significant number of Research Students and focuses on building a strong research community in and outside Exeter. Our research students fully participate in this research community. The Centre is focusing on enhancing research skills and training for Graduate students, in particular through master classes, seminars, and doctoral workshops, led by high profile scholars in the field of Kurdish Studies and beyond.
