About us

The WIDER Centre builds on our existing research expertise relating to special educational needs and inclusive education. It has a growing focus on mental health and wellbeing in education, broader understandings of inclusion and disability, and the psychology of education. Our research findings are regularly translated into practical applications that benefit education and society.

It is led by Alison Black, Simon Hayhoe and Darren Moore. The Centre draws together the School of Education’s research expertise around the inter-related fields of disability, inclusive education, educational psychology, and mental health and wellbeing. It is organised into these different strands which foster research excellence and promote interdisciplinary collaboration.

Strands:

  • Disability, Difference and Additional Needs
