Chris began working in clinical trials in 2000, working for a commercial Clinical Research Organisation managing Phase I/II trials of Investigational Medicinal Products. In 2008 he joined the University of Plymouth to manage non-commercial trials before moving into the UKCRC-registered Peninsula Clinical Trials Unit in 2010. At PenCTU, as a Senior Trial Manager, Chris managed a variety of trials including Phase III CTIMPs, non-CTIMPs, pilot trials, feasibility studies and trials of complex interventions before moving into Quality Assurance and Co-Director roles. Between 2018 and 2023, Chris was a member of the UKCRC CTU Network's Quality Assurance Operation Group Steering Committee.

Chris joined the Exeter Clinical Trials Unit as Director of Operations in March 2023.
