Overview:
I am a molecular geneticist based at the University of Exeter College of Medicine and Health. As the scientific lead for the Exeter neonatal diabetes genetic testing service, my research uses cutting-edge genomic technologies to discover genes essential for the insulin-producing cells. I have so far discovered and published 7 novel genetic causes of neonatal and early-onset diabetes, as well as receiving multiple international awards. I believe that integration of genetic research and clinical care is fundamental to improve treatment and care for people diagnosed with diabetes. My research is currently funded by Diabetes UK.
